PPG Partners Rivka Monheit and Yvonne Shyntum will be teaching at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Academy Summer School on Intellectual Property. On October 3, 2021 Dr. Shyntum will teach a course on Trademarks and on October 4, 2021 Ms. Monheit will teach a course regarding US Design Patents and its interface with other areas of Intellectual Property.
The WIPO Summer Schools provide an opportunity for university students and young professionals to acquire a deeper knowledge of IP, and how it can be used as a tool for sustainable development, as well as the role of WIPO in the administration and the provision of global IP services. This summer school is directed at graduate and postgraduate students and young professionals who are interested in learning more about Intellectual Property.
More broadly, WIPO is the global forum for intellectual property (IP) services, policy, information and cooperation. It is a self-funding agency of the United Nations, with 193 member states. WIPO’s mission is to lead the development of a balanced and effective international IP system that enables innovation and creativity for the benefit of all.
Ms. Monheit's extensive experience includes counseling universities, research institutions, individual inventors, multinational companies and startup companies with respect to medical devices, drug-delivery materials, imaging and diagnostic agents, personal care products and chemical technologies.
Dr. Shyntum brings a sophisticated understanding of complex science and technology subjects to her legal work, aided by her Ph.D. in pharmacology and training in such disciplines as molecular biology, animal models of human disease, redox biology and toxicology.
