PPG Partner Patrea Pabst will co-present an upcoming webinar entitled “Intellectual Property: What is It, How Do I Get It, and Why Do I Need It?” along with her esteemed colleague Diane Harmon, Director of the Intellectual Property Administration at the Yale Office of Cooperative Research. The event will take place on October 27, 2021 at 12 PM EST; all interested parties may register.

In this program, Ms. Pabst and Ms. Harmon will discuss patents, trademarks, trade secrets, copyright and contractual rights – how each can be used to exclude competition and add value to innovative technology. There will be a Q&A session following the seminar.

Ms. Pabst’s extensive experience includes counseling corporations, universities, and investors on startup and early-stage initiatives with an eye to patentability and valuation. She identifies the market potential of clients’ discoveries, then designs practical, business-oriented solutions to achieve their strategic goals.

Ms. Harmon manages the team at Yale OCR responsible for invention disclosure input and verification, patent prosecution and maintenance, compliance of funding (federal, NGO, sponsor) and post-execution licensing compliance.

The “Intellectual Property: What is It, How Do I Get It, and Why Do I Need It?” webinar is part of IP Insights, an educational series developed and run by Yale OCR. The IP Insights program aims to educate the community on Intellectual Property, from filing to prosecution, inventorship to commercialization and other related topics. Each session features an outside legal expert to discuss the complexities that accompany the intellectual property process.
