Rivka D. Monheit's practice focuses on patent prosecution and license agreements relating to medical devices, drug delivery materials, and chemical technologies. Her experience includes writing patent applications, invalidity and non-infringement opinion letters, prosecuting U.S. patent applications (drafting responses, amendments, and appeal and reply briefs), and corresponding with foreign associates to guide the prosecution of foreign applications. She has also presented oral arguments before the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences.
Ms. Monheit's publications include: Rivka D. Monheit & Patrea L. Pabst, Patent Issue: Publication of U.S. Patents, 7(4) Tissue Engin. 481 (2001) and Rivka Monheit & Patrea Pabst, Federal Circuit Clarifies the "Written Description" Requirement in Genetic Engineering Case, 16(5) Tech. Access Rep. 15 (Sept. 2003). During 2003, she chaired and spoke at the Patent Law Symposium at the Southeast Regional Meeting for the American Chemical Society in Atlanta, GA (SERMACS).
While at Georgia Tech, Ms. Monheit performed research in Emory University Hospital's Vascular Surgery Department. While at the University of Georgia, she was articles editor for the Journal of Intellectual Property Law, author of "The Importance of Correct Inventorship", 7 J. Intell. Prop. L. 191 (1999), and worked as a scientific advisor.
Ms. Monheit is a member of the Georgia Association for Women Lawyers, the Atlanta Bar Association, American Intellectual Property Law Association, the American Chemical Society, and the Southeastern Medical Device Association. Ms. Monheit currently serves on the patent committee for the GA Bar IP Section.
